Planting-Seeds-Cultivation-Happiness-2026

About this event

Dates: October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 (Fridays)
Time:  7pm to 9pm

Happiness is not merely an emotion, but something that can be gently cultivated through understanding, reflection, and practice.

In this five-week course, Venerable Chuan Jia offers guidance on how Buddhist wisdom may be applied in everyday living. Through simple reflections and practical approaches, participants are supported in working with stress, meeting life’s challenges with greater steadiness, and nurturing a more settled sense of inner well-being.

Whether you are encountering the Dharma for the first time or returning to revisit these teachings, you are warmly welcome. In this 2026 renewed offering, returning participants may find familiar teachings opening up in new ways as they are revisited through the lens of daily experience.

May this be a supportive space for learning, reflection, and gentle cultivation.

What this course may support you in exploring:
• Bringing Buddhist teachings into everyday situations at work, at home, and in relationships
• Step-by-step ways of observing and working with thoughts and emotions
• Small, meaningful shifts that may support long-term inner stability

Topics for reflection include:
• How thoughts and actions shape our experience of happiness
• Applying Buddhist principles to cultivate contentment and steadiness
• Mindfulness practices for working with stress and reactive patterns
• The role of compassion and gratitude in daily living

To maintain a meaningful and interactive learning environment, each intake remains intentionally small. This encourages genuine sharing, thoughtful reflection, and personalised guidance throughout the sessions. May these shared reflections offer support for a more grounded and harmonious way of living.

About the organiser

Organiser Description
Compassion and Wisdom Vihāra (悲智精舍) was founded as a space for personal growth and learning — a place where individuals can deepen their understanding of the Dharma and integrate compassion and wisdom into their daily lives.

We are a contemporary Buddhist community committed to making the Dharma accessible in English. While many Mahāyāna teachings are traditionally shared in Mandarin, our Vihāra offers a space where practitioners can explore Buddhist wisdom in a language that speaks to them. By blending traditional teachings with modern perspectives, we aim to make Buddhist practice both accessible and relevant in today’s world.

At the heart of our community is a shared dedication to learning and practising the Dharma together. We uphold core Buddhist values such as mindfulness, ethical living, and selfless service. Through study, meditation, and compassionate action, we support one another on the path of inner transformation.
